Might be trouble for the anime, manga, and video games fans in Tokyo. Mostly anime and manga will be affected but some sites say video games might be as well.

I am guessing this bill is aiming to reduce the amount of sex and violence in anime, mangas, and video games that are accessible to minors. Though this will not affect 18+ material because it is assumed that minors cannot get a hold of it. Material that is labeled as harmful to youth could be ban or made to 18+.

So what do you guys think about this?
Should harmful material be out of the reach of minors?
What do you consider inappropriate to minors?
What is more harmful to minors, exposure to sex, or violence?

It seems to me, that encouraging teens/youth to read/learn about sex and sexual practices at an early age, would lead them to be less judgmental adults, and therefore reducing the risk of adults/young adults engaging in verbal and/or physical violence due to ignorance in sex education. IMO

Link didn't work for me but the ban could either be ok or useless, depending on how they enforce it, as it's not hard to find warped themes in anime and manga. And since 18+ items are left untouched, the impact it has on those consumers are minimal.

Violence. Watched both porn and movies with (lots of) violence as a teen. A few of the horror movies managed to scare me quite a bit (though not in a scarring way - still one of my favourite genres today). Worst, however, were more "realistic" movies depicting violence, such as war or anti-war movies - those were the ones that got to me the most.
But I guess it can differ a lot from person to person.
