I'm looking to buy a new car for less than $30,000.  Where I live it snows a lot so my only requirement is that the car has 4 wheel drive.  Suggestions?

Get a Subaru, preferably a turbocharged WRX.  I own one, and they are awesome in the snow.  Snow tires + all wheel drive + boost = good times   I have never gotten stuck, no matter how deep the snow.  Brand new ones start around $26K.  You could easily get a good used one for less than $20K.  My 04 WRX with 108,000 miles on it is still worth 10K.

What he said. Although if you're looking to save skip on the turbocharging. I'd consider an STI though. Insurance tends to be a little cheaper compared to just the WRX because drivers are tend to be more mature instead of 18 year old kids.

I'd go with the subby as well, but would skip the STI, I don't find the addons to be worthwhile for the price.

The subaru's are awesome, some of the best cars made today irregardless of price.  The only draw back is they don't have the cargo space an SUV.  So not good if you have to cart a whole bunch of stuff around.  Granted you will do it quickly in an STI

so, do you have any sort of preference as far as it being a car, truck, suv, etc.? and as for snow, a car labeled AWD vs. 4x4 is better.. (there is a difference)

but as mentioned above.. the Subaru's are pretty sweet.

There are other makes/models of AWD vehicles.

Subaru has a few different models, the Ford Fusion and Edge, Acura has a couple, Chevrolet Silverado SS...the list goes on.

what no one has mentioned about the subaru's is that the interior is SUPER LOUD .... smh ... as a guy who normally drives an infiniti and bmw .... i'll reccommend a certified bmw 535Xi 

i used to sell the sabaru's and once the customer got a taste of that turbo .. they forget about the noise, untill 8 months, and 2 road trips later.

look at the offerings from Acura, and Bmw .... drive them ALL ....
