I'm in the US and use Country Companies for my home and all vehicles.

The wife and I got quotes last year to see if we could save money elsewhere, but no one else we spoke with could even come close.

    I'm in the UK.
Lucky to have a company lease car so insurance included, but for my bike I use Footman James. Low excess. They throw in stuff like legal cover and European travel that other companies charge extra for. Also do a discount if you are a member of a bike club (not Hells Angels). Fnarrr

I have found out a few things over the years that may help.
1.They are all excellent until you try and claim .I used quick fit insurance once and after a van hit me in a car park they took months to handle the claim.I was told I needed a courtesy car as mine was unsafe due to a cracked bumper?  It turned out they were milking the claim for themselves as they owned the hire car company and at £100 a day they were claiming off the vans insurer. I had to ring the ombudsman to get that moving.
2.If you want to make any changes during the policy term all of the robbing gits will charge you so get the details correct when you first sign up. They will also charge you to cancel a policy and guess what the cancellation fee always exceeds the value of any funds left.
3.The best advice is shop around every year. You get nothing for loyalty as new customers will always get the best deal. If you want to stay with your favourite then threaten to leave 99% of the time they will offer a discount for you to stay. Quote a recent add you may have seen that will have the companies best price and it will be better than yours.
4.Don't go with a small company miles from that you found on the net that is cheap. They are too good to be true for a reason.' Joes insurance' will be a one room office over a pizza hut. Good luck with that claim.
5.If you have an old car say over 15 yrs old then get a classic car policy. They are always cheaper they do have conditions like ltd mileage and such but can be worth a look.
6.Dont forget to protect any no claims bonus you may have accrued. Also check the policy add on. Most insurers will put legal cover ,roadside assistance and windscreen cover on automatically. That will cost you  £100 straight away. What is the point of it when you can get the same protection from the AA or RAC for £35?

PLUS,I've found it's also a lot cheaper by going direct to the insurer instead of a broker.I saved over £140 by going direct to my insurer than I did thru the broker the year previous, insured with the same company both years....
