Admittedly I don't watch much of this being that I am from the states.
I decided what the hell I will pop it on in the background for some noise & to watch from time to time.
I am expecting to hear cheering & you know the norm for a sporting event.

Instead i am greeted with these annoying blasted horns that sound like there is a hornets nest outside of my window.
turning down the volume defeats the purpose of even having it on, so i turn the channel.
I was looking forward to seeing a bit of it, but those horns were driving me batty.

Is it like this normally, or is this some new trend from this year?
I don't remember ever hearing this in any of the past events i caught glimpses of.

It's not a normal thing - seems to be something that is purely South African.

It must be just me, but the vuvuzelas don't actually bother me too much!

With all the sound filters the tv stations applying now, it's quite bearable. Maybe ESPN doesn't filter?
There are instructionals on how to filter the noises yourself all over ithe interwebs however, just google for "vuvuzela sound filter".
